How does a hopeless romantic find what he's looking for in moden society?

I'm 24 years old, and I've never been in a relationship that wasn't over the internet. The only women I seem to attract are those that I a: can't have because they're in a relationship, or b: are just desperate because of their own personal issues. I'm fairly good looking, and I'm pretty much the guy most women are looking for, in my opinion. Since I was a child in the first grade I've wanted to meet a woman, to be there, and for me to be there for her. But countless dates, and a Yahoo Personals AD that seems more a waste of money than anything, later I have to ask, what the heck is wrong with me? Is it that I want a relationship more than I want to get laid? Do I have to turn into one of those guys who only thinks with his crotch, in order to gain the attention of a woman? Im asking the world at large to give me some advice here, any any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.
