Is it just a cold or more?

At first it started out as a normal cold with the runny nose and congestion. I also had some drainage that gave me a scratchy throat. Today the scratchy throat was gone but now i have a cough that's painful. It hurts to inhale and also when i inhale i feel a pain in my back. My breathing is also shallow by the way. What do you think it could be? Is it just a normal cold or something else?
