Has making marijuana illegal increased the crime rate?
Exactly, there has never been one death that has been linked to smoking too much weed, while tobacco is linked to 435,000 deaths a year, and alcohol 85,000. The only reason marijuana smokers have a negative reputation is because of the criminal aspect given by the government and hollywood movies. While there are convicted murderers, rapists, arsonists, and any other kind of criminal who deserve to be locked up running around on the streets, there are currently 1/9th of the United States prisoners in there because they were minding their business and trying to open their mind a bit. How can alcohol be legal, but marijuana not?! Drunk driving is a serious problem, yet most people can drive high without any problem (but which is definitely not recommended by any means, just an example). Also, by making marijuana an illegal drug, it has caused mexican cartels to get involved, which means thousands of people are being murdered in south american countries because the cartels have an incredible amount of power. Yet, if OUR own government were the ones selling marijuana, it would completely change the economic status of our country. But hey, what do I know, I'm just another 'stoner'.
