Facebook Is bombarding me with Emails, how do you stop them?

I have 435 Emails in my inbox, approx 300 are from facebook, I deleted all the facebook ones yesterday, so its no like I never check them. Now theres loads more and its really starting to bug me. Are you having the same problem? Please could you also suggest how to stop them. Your answers would be very much appriciated. Thank you -x-o-x-o-x
