Do i have to sign for this delivery?

The other day i ordered 3 pairs of shoes online and i'm expecting them at around 16:30 today.. however in the short time i ordered the shoes till now.. my work schedule changed without notice.. i wont be at the shipping address at 16:30. Are they going to hold the package at a local Fedex office because i wasn't there to sign for it? or will they leave it on my doorstep? Am i able to have other residence of the household sign for my packages?
